Role
Marc Cooper is a Managing Director in the Mergers and Acquisitions Group. In that role he is involved in Restructuring as well as the Financing Group’s activities in traditional private placements of senior and subordinated debt and equity capital.

Experience
Mr. Cooper’s broad based experience spans strategic advisory assignments as well as capital markets and merger and acquisition transactions.  These include buy and sell side assignments, private financings and restructurings.  In his 20 years as an investment banker, he has concentrated on retail, apparel and consumer products sectors. 

Most recently, Mr. Cooper advised Istithmar on its $942 million purchase of Barneys New York Inc. from Jones Apparel Group. Other recent transactions include the sale of Citizens of Humanity to Berkshire Partners, the purchase of Loehmann’s by Istithmar, the sale of Barneys to Jones Apparel Group, the purchase of Disney Store North America by The Children’s Place Retail Stores, Inc., the sale of Loehmann’s Inc. to Crescent Capital and the sale of Kasper/Anne Klein to Jones Apparel Group. 

Prior to joining PJSC, Mr. Cooper was a founding member and Vice Chairman of Barington Capital Group where he oversaw its investment banking operations. He executed over 75 advisory and financing assignments during his tenure.  Mr. Cooper began his career at Dean Witter Reynolds, Inc.  He was also a partner of Scharf Brothers, a private merchant-banking firm.
