Experience Michael Sherman is a Senior Advisor to PJSC and joined the firm in 2007. He has spent over twenty five years in multi-channel retailing as a business leader, senior executive and attorney.
Mr. Sherman began his career in law, practicing corporate and securities law for the predecessor firm of Nixon Peabody from 1977 to 1980. After spending three years as the assistant corporate counsel for Joseph E. Seagram & Sons, Mr. Sherman began a thirteen year tenure with Hanover Direct (previously Horn & Hardart Co.), holding various senior executive positions, including executive vice president of corporate affairs, general counsel and secretary.
In 1996, Mr. Sherman joined Fingerhut Companies, as Executive Vice President, Business Development and General Counsel; Fingerhut was acquired by Federated Department Stores in 1999; he then served as President of Fingerhut from 2000-2002. Mr. Sherman founded Crosstown Traders Inc. in 2002 and served as Vice Chairman until its sale to Charming Shoppes, Inc. in 2005.
